Cannon Crews: A Job in the Civil War
The weapon that American troops have used since the Civil War is the howitzer, which was manufactured in the 17th century. A cannon or short-barreled gun is called a howitzer. A howitzer's projectile has a steep descent angle, making it useful over short and medium distances.
Cannon crew members operate self-propelled howitzers, as well as other vehicles used to transport howitzers and troops.
