Regulatory Affairs Specialists

Internal regulatory processes such as audits, inspections, license renewals, and registration are coordinated and documented by Regulatory Affairs Specialists. Prepare materials for submission to regulatory agencies. They coordinate the preparation of regulatory documents.

Regulatory Affairs Specialists have a current knowledge base of regulations, standards, and guidance documents. They may communicate with regulatory agencies about pre-submission strategies, potential regulatory pathways, compliance test requirements, or clarification and follow-up of submissions under review. Regulatory Affairs Specialists prepare or direct the preparation of additional information or responses on a weekly or monthly basis.

The Job Opportunities of Packaging Specialists

Supplies and finished goods are put in bags, boxes and crates by packaging specialists and then moved to loading areas for delivery. They work in a factory floor, end of assembly lines, and department stores where they wrap gifts for the holidays. They seal containers with tape and other adhesives, label boxes with the names of their contents and do final inspections to make sure they meet production standards.

They replace the faulty products with functioning items if they find them. They keep a record of their activities. Manual dexterity is needed for manipulating goods and boxes while physical stamina is needed for standing throughout most of the work shift.

The entry level jobs in factories and retail are considered to be the best places to move up in the industry. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that jobs will increase by 9 percent from 2010 to 2020, compared to 14 percent for all other occupations. Employment opportunities will be limited by the use of self-service technology.

The BLS states that packaging specialists made a mean of $22,480 per year. The average salary was $16,600 a year, or $7.98 an hour, and $33,080, or $15.90 per hour. The biggest employers were grocery stores, which had 159,320 jobs and paid an average of $9.33 per hour.

Designing Labels for Product Package

As a labeling specialist, you have to design and inspect all labels on product packages to make sure they comply with industry or government regulations. Your responsibilities include the design of artwork and labels that clearly indicate what type of product is included in the package and ensuring they comply with all rules regarding warnings, proper directions, and proof purchase. You develop tools to modify standard operating procedures when regulations change.
