The Student Internship Program at the Levit Center for Public Service and Law

Students can work for academic credit anywhere in the world with the SCEP. SCEP interns must work 40 hours per week at their approved placement because they are not in the Bay Area and can't attend the weekly seminar. They must also get the approval of a faculty member to supervise their placement and their lesson.

SCEP interns have worked at the New York AG's Office, the Public Defenders Office in Lagos, Nigeria, and the US House of Representative's Committee on Oversight and Reform. Students who wish to do an internship must schedule a meeting with the Director of the Pro Bono and Externship Programs, Mike Winn, in order to apply for an internship.

The Public Interest Externship Program at the Law School gives students the opportunity to receive academic credit for engaging in fieldwork. The Externship Program is only available to students at the law school. Faculty members are not obligated to accept students who approach them for sponsorship. The student should work with the sponsor to develop a syllabus and a process for reviewing and discussing the placement each week, once the faculty sponsor is found.
