An ENT Doctor
An ENT doctor is an otolaryngologist who specializes in the treatment of the ears, mouth, throat and nose. otolaryngology includes the structures of the face and neck, as well as the respiratory system. An otolaryngologist completes a residency program that includes training in the communication sciences, including speech-language pathology and audiology, and disorders of the upper alimentary system that is critical to digestion and nutrition.
The otolaryngologist has a variety of duties, including additional specialization. Otolaryngologists complete nearly 15 years of education and training, including medical school, internship and passing an exam with the American Board of otolaryngologists. Many choose to receive additional training and certification in any of the eight sub-specializations, which include otology and neurology, laryngology, facial reconstructive and plastic surgery, and sleep disorders.
