One-on-1 Visual Communication in Aircraft

One-on-one visual communication is a part of aircraft ground handling. It may be an alternative to radio communications between the aircraft and air traffic control. A marshaller usually has a reflective safety vest, a helmet with acoustic earmuffs, gloves, and a hand held illuminated beacon. The marshallers give take-off and landing clearances to aircraft and helicopters because of the limited space and time between take-offs and landings.
